BIDA members awarded LBV’s Red Rose Award for Innovation of the Year 2015

BIDA member Butters Innovation, PDS Engineering, Salford and Manchester Universities, have been awarded Lancashire Business View's Red Rose Award for Innovation of the Year 2015. Working with stroke survivors, carers, and stroke therapists, the team developed Morow (Motorised Rehabilitation of Walking).  This robotic device boosts walking rehabilitation, standing up and sitting down for stroke survivors and others whose legs are too weak or painful to take their weight unaided.  Using a user-centred design approach the team have ensured the device is ‘fit-for-purpose’ for both patients and clinicians.
Jonathan Butters said “We are delighted to receive the award as part of the Morow team. Work to finalise the design and safety testing will complete in 2015 and the first clinical trials are planned for 2016.”
